Wednesday 12th September 2018. A great day out at the Apex Theatre, Bury St Edmunds for the Anglia in Bloom Awards 2018. Huntingdon came away with a Gold Award in the Large Town category, and awards for displays at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and the World War One tank, well done to all the estates team, Hinchingbrooke volunteers, and all our Huntingdon in Bloom community and committee members. I was really pleased to see Moor in Bloom won a Silver Award in the Urban Communities category, an excellent effort by all involved.
Our surrounding towns also did well, St Ives won a Gold Award in the Large town category and the Swan and Angel won a Gold and overall prize for the Restaurants category; Chatteris also won Gold in the Town category with special awards for their Frolic Drought Garden and RBL Youth displays.
It was a long day, and as we were staying for dinner, I thought I deserved to treat myself to a glass of red. Our estates team and Huntingdon in Bloom volunteers have really excelled this year; plans are already in place for next year when we go though this all over again. Well done everyone.
