VE Day 2021
On Saturday 8th May 2021, the Mayor of Huntingdon, Cllr Karl Webb, was joined by the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Padrica Kennington and Ms Josette Kennington, former Mayor, Cllr Sarah Gifford, and former Mayoress, Cllr Audrey McAdam, for a wreath laying service and to hold a Minute’s Silence in memory of all lives lost during the Second World War.

The Second World War did not end until September 1945, but the formal acceptance of Germany’s armed forces on Tuesday 8 May 1945 marked the end of World War II in Europe.

Huntingdon will always remember the sacrifice made by those in all wars, the current Covid restrictions mean we could not hold large scale services, but it is important that the day is marked as best we can.

We Will Remember Them.
